Our Story
Located on the edge of a cliff overlooking Lake Malawi, the Mushroom Farm Eco-Lodge offers the perfect setting to relax + soak in the surrounding nature. Their little oasis nestled in among the trees, is a gathering space for anyone looking to find peace + community.

When you stay at the farm you are taking part in working towards a self-sufficient lifestyle + encouraging a positive impact on the environment. They operate on 100% solar energy, where water is sourced from a natural spring + using composting methods to feed our onsite permaculture gardens. Plus, the farm is a social enterprise, which means a percentage of the profits from the stay is fed back into the community.

Their restaurant is striving to 100% Malawian grown food restaurants, where a lot of the fruits and vegetables come from the permaculture garden they maintain, and from the surrounding community (it's VERY important to them that they do not become 100% sustainable because they like to work with, and support local farmers). The farm occasionally provides local coffee to Kaza Kitchen, where beans are roasted using their manual roasting machine on the farm. The covid pandemic posed a real challenge to the farm with decreasing number of tourists, but with the country opening up again, they are making a strong come back.

The Mushroom Farm Restaurant utilizes our homegrown organic veggies, as well as our fresh eggs to make healthy delicious meals. A full, closed loop system!
