Agnes' story

A Ph.D. Food Scientist and an optimist at best as far as exploring entrepreneurial pursuits are concerned, Agnes and her food processing company, Heritage Foods, are geared to provide high-quality, safe, and convenient foods. The name 'Heritage foods' comes from her drive to stick to the good old ways as passed on from her parents and grandparents. Her mum and grandma were able to instill the spirit of hard work, appreciation for quality, and love for good food.

Heritage Foods prepares an impressive range of products, including whole sorghum flour and finger millet flour, baobab jam and roselle & baobab jam, roselle and guava jam and peanut butter, all of which you can find on Kaza's shelves. She is proud of the quality of her products- she believes that all the hard work she has put in to come up with her products is reflected through  quality and positive health effects. Heritage Foods are committed to providing our consumers with the highest quality and ensuring that the people that work with our company's or provide us with raw materials are respected, treated fairly, and identified with the products.
On top of the quality, Agnes hopes that her products can become a gateway for various people to try some of the traditional Malawian foods. A lot of the conserves are prepared in a non-traditional way, but that is with the hope to deliver the products in a familiar way for the current and prospective customers.

Community impact is something Heritage foods takes great care of. On top of 7 employees that are all Malawians, they also host interns regularly, primarily  college students. All of the raw materials come from local suppliers, even if the recent price hike has been a challenging task to overcome. They are also on the way to being fully MBS certified, although they have almost completed the process by being granted pre-certification for the unit and products.
