Shamwari- Baobab juice
Through years of experience, Shupe was able to come up with a perfect formula for her baobab juice. Today, not only Kaza, but various shops and supermarkets sell her product.
Shupe's story
Shupe's life experienced an unexpected turning point when her husband passed away 20 years ago.
A mother of one daughter, she was no longer able to finance herself working just as an elementary school teacher. This is when she started making fresh fruit juices that she could start selling to her friends and families.
She started enjoying the process of making juices, and she found herself being interested in producing more/growing the business.
She decided she wanted to gain further knowledge about juice production, which led her to work closely with Coca Cola in Malawi. She worked with them for a couple of years, where they taught Shupe some practical knowledge about juice production, the recipes, and different means to conserve juice.
After going through an enriching experience with Coca Cola, she was ready to start making juices and selling to the public.
Today, she specializes in baobab juice production.
Her baobab juice is almost purely made out of baobab (95%), with keeping preservatives as low as possible.
She is always willing to incorporate feedback given by her clients, and through years of trial and error, she found a perfect balance between sweetness, sourness, but also bitterness.
Baobab juice is extremely vitamin and calcium rich and works very well when you're sick or hungover.
She is willing to expand her business and wants more people to taste and benefit from her baobab juice.
She is currently constructing a bigger factory for her production, but it comes with some challenges.
Recently, the price of baobab as well as other raw materials to add is rising, and she is having a challenging task of keep the price affordable.
