Wezi's Story

Ever since she started her independent business of producing tomatoes in 2015, Wezi has gained a reputation as an astounding tomato supplier both in her local community as well as other parts across Lilongwe.

Her "Tangeo" tomato, which has thicker skin and therefore more solid than a common tomato, has a meaty taste, more durable, and can be conserved for longer. This makes her tomatoes ideal for using at professional kitchens. Kaza started ordering her tomatoes in 2019, for menus including salads and fish tacos. Ever since, the tomatoes have been extremely popular among the customers, as it never fails to satisfy the customers with its distinct texture and flavor. It is her passion to grow tomatoes, and to have more people taste them.

She is currently facing the challenging rise in fertilizer prices and other materials needed for the production. Wezi continues to grow tomatoes admist such a situation, and hopes she can soon purchase a vehicle so that she can deliver her tomatoes to a larger number of customers.
